Please help me with this difficult task 2 academic writing question

Dear experts,

Please help correct my writing as much as possible.

Thank you so much in advance.

--------------

Here's the question (discussion + opinion)

Genetic engineering is an important issue in society today. Some people think that it will improve people's lives in many ways. Others feel that it may be a threat to life on earth. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

------------

And here's my response.

There have been controversies over the advance of genetic manipulation over recent decades. Although some people believe this benefits humans’ life in different ways, many suppose it may pose risks to forms of life on the planet.

On one hand, positive impacts of genetic technology are evident in various areas such as medical and farming sections. First, thanks to its remarkable contributions, plants resistant to herbicides and insects resistant to pesticides have been released. Also, hormones for extra growth in plants have significantly increased crop yield. Second, medical industry has seen advantages of genetic modification through its applications in this field. Take severe genetic diseases as an example. By replacing defective genes with functioning ones, a certain genetic disorder may be cured thoroughly. What is even more vital is that in the not too distant future there may be human genomes artificially modified that are free from genetic disorders as well as resistant to diseases.

On the other hand, there may be potential dangers to human health and other forms of life. One main concern is that allergies may occur after people consuming genetically modified food. Even though many tests have shown that this kind of food poses no greater risk to human health than conventional food, this is still an endless controversy along with food security. Another issue is on the impacts of genetic modifications on vegetations some of which are developed genomes of herbicide resistance along with insects with their ability of pesticide resistance. This may result in some weeds or insects that will never be killed by herbicides or pesticides. Thus, this danger is threatening farming industry. Therefore, regulatory systems on genetic engineering have been established worldwide to manage the development and release of any genetically modified organism.

In conclusion, under the control of regulatory systems on genetic technology, I believe that this field will bring about even more benefits to human society.
