The bar chart compares three different types of telephone calls in terms of how UK residents spent time using them for over seven years.
Overall, the use of a fixed-line of National and International together with all calls using mobiles experienced an upward trend over the time frame. While for a fixed-line for local calls, it slightly fluctuated. However. the local line remained to be the most widely used way to make calls in the UK over the years.
In 1995, about 72 billion minutes were used to make calls via the local line, which was two times higher than the Nation and international line. While mobiles only contributed a negligible number. Over the following four years, all lines saw a gradual rise with the line for local calls reached a peak at 90 billion minutes.
From that date to 2002, the fixed-line using in local underwent a small drop in time used, it went back to its initial figure in 1995. By contrast, the total number of minutes consumed to make calls by the National and International line and Mobiles increased, at 65 and 45 billion minutes in the final year respectively.
Thank you so much.
