Please help me with Task 2 IELTS

Participating in a sport is as important for psychological health and social development as it for physical conditions. What is your opinion?

Nowadays, as more and more people are becoming health-conscious, they have adopted sports as a way to maintain their health and fitness. In my opinion, sports can bring tremendous benefits to our well-being, both physically as well as psychologically and my reasons would be explored as follows.

In terms of physical health, sports is a weapon against various types of diseases, thus helping us become fitter, quicker and stronger individuals. According to the U.S Department of Health and Human services, playing sports is an effective method to reduce obesity rates, lower diabetes figures and lessen heart diseases. Therefore, those who do regular exercise are more likely to avoid serious maladies.

Regarding psychological aspects, sports is truly a character builder which enhances people’s willing power and perserverance. Specifically, most sport games involve strenuous exercise, which requires them to put in a great deal of effort and hard work. Doing such kind of activity, therefore, can motivate people to break their limits and to be more patient.

Another benefit of taking exercises is the development of cooperation and coordination. In other words, many sports games involve team members working towards a common goal, thus achieving success together. For example, in football, the players are to closely cooperate with each other. They sometimes even have to make certain sacrifices so that other members can be given more advantages to score a goal. Consequently, playing sports is definitely an ideal way for people to gain the sense of team spirit and figure out how to coordinate with one another.

In conclusion, sports play a pivotal role in enhancing people’s physical and mental health. Hence, it is advisable that each individual should practice sports games to lead an active and healthy lifestyle along with develop certain positive characteristics.
