We can get knowledge from news, but some people think we can’t trust the journalist, what do you think? And what do you think is the important qualities that a journalist should have?

It is general knowledge that news reports can provide people with a vast source of information nowadays. However, many people have expressed increasing concern about the fact that news reporters and editors are losing prestige from the public due to some of their misconducts. In my essay, the causes of this issue will be briefly illustrated following the good qualities a media reporteer should have.

To commence with, there are two main factors contributing to the unreliability of news coverage in recent days. For one, it is the degradation of professional morality that leads to this problem. Journalists, to be more specific, are sometimes bribed to spread fraudulent news for the purpose of attracting audience attention to individuals or companies. Especially, in the case of superstars, news writers, after receiving a large sum of money, are likely to upload and post unreal scandals for the celebrities. Another reason is that many news editors nowadays tend to copy the available online articles without confirming their credibility. With the convenience of the Internet, journalists can reproduce the news coverage with just a few mouse clicks instead of finding out the truth themselves.

In light of this matter, certain qualities should be encouraged and cultivated among journalists to ensure the reliability of social media. Dedication to the profession can be one important trait of news reporters. Specifically, if a news editor is devoted to his job, he will have a strong will to go to the frontline of the news, thus collecting the information himself. Therefore, the news coverage can be more accurate and reliable. Honesty and intergrity are other good qualities that a journalist should possess. With these characteristics, the news reporters can protect themselves from the lure of money. Consequently, the number of misleading articles can be minimized.

In conclusion, although the news reports are highly informative, the content can be unreliable due to the abovementioned reasons. Threfore, it is of extreme importance that journalists should develop good personality traits as above to regain trust from the readers.
