Some people think that newly built houses should follow the style of the old
houses in the local areas, while others think that people should have freedom to build
houses of their own styles. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

There is an opinion that people should build their new houses by following the style of other old houses in their neighborhood while others believe that people are free to choose the styles for their houses. I agree that people should have freedom to build their houses.

In the past, all the buildings in a street usually shared the same style due to the limitation of design, building materials. The standardization makes a residential area becomes more orderly and better-looking. For example, the old quarter of Hanoi is famous for its old houses which have the same style. The subjects of many famous paintings are the streets having a general style. Houses that have the same structure are easier for the authority to manage and organize (such as constructing and maintaining the pavement, installing house plaques). However, this trend can limit the creativity of people.

Nowadays, people tend to build houses with their own styles. Freedom to build houses can satisfy people’s own interest and creativity. This opinion also supports the development of architecture and help create better styles of building. Moreover, some old styles can be outdated and not suitable to live in these days and need to be replaced by new styles of house. Unique buildings are easier for visitors to distinguished and look for.

In conclusion, house owners should be free to build their houses because the variety of building style can bring more benefits.
