Essay & Composition Writing

Please help me with my writing task 2: it is more important for school children to learn local history than world history. To what extend, do you agree or disagree?

It is true that learning history is very necessary. While I agree that we need to learn local history, I also believe that it is essential to study the history of the world.

There are several reasons why having a good knowledge of local history is important. The first reason is that local history helps students have an insight into each stage of development of their country. In history lessons, students learn about dynasties, which provides them with the knowledge of traditions and customs. By knowing that, students certainly know who they are, so they tend to show respect for traditional things. Another justification is learning local history instill love for the country into children. Students also learn about wars which tells them the unpalatable of the war and the devotion of forefathers. As a result, students are likely to have a sense of patriotism and not to take the peace for granted. They tend to be more willing to pay contribution to their country.

However, it is wrong to reject the argument in favor of the benefits that learning world history brings to children. The first benefit that students can have is embracing new cultures. By learning world history, students tend to accept exotic cultures that exist, which make them more open-minded. Students are likely to view life from different angles, which are more interesting. Secondly, children also gain knowledge by learning world history. They can have an insight into important events such as industrial revolutions, world wars, or migration. As a consequence, they can broaden their knowledge and fit in the global village.

In conclusion, it is ludicrous to compare local history to world history because they are equally important.

It is true that (This is very poor style. You can put "It is true that" before any statement, but it adds no content or information at all. e.g. "It is true that all mothers love their children."/ "It is true that I am a graduate of American University." / "It is true that water boils at 100° C." and so on. This "it is true that" only puts a doubt in the reader's mind that you
