The table compares department and online stores in terms of four categories which are the quantity, the percentage of growth, the profit, and revenue of sales in AUD in 2011 in the country Australia.
Overall, the online stores outperformed the department ones in all categories. Additionally, although the number of companies in the field of traditional shopping was far lower than that for online shopping, criteria of finance for department stores include profit, revenue, and growth rate were relatively competitive to that for online shops.
In terms of the store network in Australia, there were 368 stores in the sector of online shopping, while the figure for traditional shopping was significantly lower, at only 67 stores. Meanwhile, 807 AUD was the amount of profit from a department store, compared to 863 AUD for an online shop.
A traditional department store generated the quantity of sales revenue of 12,700 AUD, whereas the figure for an online shop was quite higher, at 13,400 AUD. At the same time, the growth rate of stores of traditional shopping was only 0.4%, a little less than that of online shopping, at 0.6%.
