Task 1: The diagram shows how chocolate is produced. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The diagram illustrates the process of producing chocolate.
Overall, the production of chocolate includes ten main stages. The first step of the process is planting cacao trees, and the final step is making liquid chocolate.
At the very first step of chocolate production, being planted in particular areas in the world such as South America, Africa, and Indonesia, the cacao tree fully grows and produces several red pods. The ripe red pods are then harvested and separated in order to collect white cocoa beans inside. These seeds are fermented, before being dried in the sun in the next step. After that, dried beans are packaged into large sacks.
The process continues with delivering sacks of cocoa beans to a factory by train or truck. Next, these beans are roasted at a high temperature of approximately 350 degrees Celsius. Roasted beans are then put into a crusher where the outer shells are removed during the process of crushing so as to collect only the core of the beans. Finally, this brown inner part is pressed by a machine to produce liquid chocolate as the finished product.
