The flow chart illustrates the process in which chocolate is made from cacao tree.
Overall, there are three main stages; collecting white cocoa beans, processing beans and manufacturing chocolate.
In detail, the first stage begins with harvesting ripe red pods from cacao tree grown in S.America, Africa, Indonesia. The pods are then cut to collect white cocoa beans inside. What follows is the second stage when beans are fermented by being covered by banana leaves. After that, they are spread in sun to dry and put in large sacks for storing. These sacks are put on trains or lorries and conveyed to a factory. In the third stage, beans are first roasted until they reach at 360 degree Celsius. Roasted beans then undergo the classification in which crushed beans are separated with outer shell, which is unwanted material. Lastly, inner parts are pressed under rollers, resulting in liquid chocolate produced.
