Topic: Intelligence is the key to success. Do you agree or disagree with this statement. Write an essay to express your opinion.

In this day and age, the question of how to be successful in life has been a subject of heated debate. Some people support the idea that intelligence plays the most crucial part in one’s success. From my personal point of view, I totally disagree with this opinion due to the following reasons.

First of all, besides intelligence, effort is another major factor that leads to accomplishment. This is because intelligence is just an advantage for a short period, whereas effort can help people pursue their dreams in the long run. Even intelligent people need to work very hard to reach their full potential, otherwise they would never be themselves today. To illustrate, Thomas Edison, who was a famous and talented inventor, had to try to experiment 10,000 times before he eventually created light bulbs. Thus, it is undeniable that intelligence is not enough to change one's life for the better without any attempts.

Secondly, life skills are also an important contribution to people’s achievement. In other words, these essential skills enable people to solve problems as well as communicate with their colleagues more easily and quickly so that they become trustworthy to be given great responsibilities at work in others’ viewpoint. In addition, a number of companies these days have a tendency to employ those who are rich in skills. As a result, when people master life skills, they stand a high chance of being successful.

To sum up, I strongly believe that cleverness is not always the key to success. If a person wants to achieve their goals, they still need plenty of effort and soft skills as demonstrated above.
