Task 2: Many students find it difficult to concentrate or pay attention at school. What are the reasons? What could be done to solve this problem?

Answer

Today’s children face a lot of obstacles while sitting in a classroom and they find it hard to

focus on their academic study due to various reasons. Although there are certain problems,

parents and teachers can help them tackle this issue completely with some effort.

There are many reasons behind the lack of concentration by children. Firstly, children have

access to smartphones or laptops as they are greatly influenced by advanced technology. As a

result, they cannot sit in the classroom for a long time without thinking about opening their

phones to check on their social media and that makes them fail to focus on what the teachers

are saying. Moreover, since children have much more workload to study at schools and at

home, they develop a sense of frustration and stressfulness that prevent them from engaging

with the lessons. The pressure of study is another reason why students fear school. Teacher’s

lack of knowledge and proper training sometimes makes them feel bored and their interest in

academic subjects declines.

However, these issues can be addressed if certain steps are taken by parents and teachers.

The most effective solution is that parents should take control of the usage of technological

devices of their kids, which can help them to get out of their virtual world and focus more on

reality. Another way is to teach students time management skills. Therefore children can finish

their tasks in the shortest time possible so that they will not be too stressed and making schools

a calmer place. Adding more fun while teaching also helps the learning experience becomes

more enjoyable for students.

In conclusion, despite certain causes for the lack of children’s attention in schools, parents and

teachers can solve this problem if they take proper solutions.
