The biggest part is the abdomen, and the lady bird can be easily identified by the bright red color and black spots of the elytra.The cycle begins with reproducing mature females laying eggs in clusters of rows on the underside of a leaf. Eggs are incubated and hatch as very small larvae. This stage has the shortest span of the four, only two to five days. After three weeks, the larvae pupate and attach to the backside of a leaf. The pupae undergo a metamorphosis for only one week, and mature adults emerge. They are now capable of mating and reproducing. As for its anatomy, the head bears two antennas and two compound eyes. The ladybug is a six-legged flying insect with a characteristic rounded shape. The body has three main sections, a small head with eyes and antenna, a central pronotum, and a large abdomen. The wings of the adult are covered by bright red elytra with black spots.

It takes about a month for a ladybug to develop from an egg to an adult. During this period, it goes through three stages: egg, larva and pupa. Clusters of eggs are deposited by a female on the underside of a leaf, where they incubate for 2-5 days. Larvae hatch from the eggs, looking quite different from the adult; their bodies are elongated and wingless. They remain in this stage for three weeks, and then attach to the back side of a leaf, entering the pupa stage. As a pupa, it develops into its adult form in a process called metamorphosis. This takes one week, and an adult ladybug emerges to eat, mate, and produce eggs for the next generation.
