Views have always differ when it comes to the question whether information in science, business and the academic world should be shared without charged or not. While some people approve of the idea, I assert that some information should not be publicized due to its importance.
In this contemporary society, information being shared freely does benefit us in many aspects. First, it helps us save more time and money spent on studying. Take my sister as an example. Back in the time when there was no Internet, she had to take extra classes after school and pay for a tutor so as to gain access to new sources of information. Now that the Internet is invented, she could obtain information just by a click on various types of self-learning websites. Second, the fact that information being publicized could broaden our knowledge. By using only a smartphone, we are now able to acquire more considerable amount of contents. As a result, we could learn inclusively about the world around us without any limitations.
Nevertheless, there are reasonable explanation why people choose to keep their information away from the others. First, company may lose its competitive edge over its rivals. It stands to reason that each business has its own secret to succeed. If these secrets were revealed, they could be used against them. As a result, companies may run the risk of being defeated by their opponents. In this case, information is priceless. In addition, spreading unverified information would create chaotic situation in our society. For instance, if an unverified finding of a dangerous virus were leaked, people would be put under false alarm and become panic-stricken. This circumstance would feasibly lead to our society falling into insecurity.
In conclusion, although sharing information has particular benefits, it should not be given freely without through consideration.
