Topic: In some countries an increasing number of people are suffering from health problems as a result of eating too much fast food. It is therefore necessary for the governments to impose a higher tax on this kind of food. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

My essay :

The number of people who are badly affected by eating too much fast food in some countries is increasing. It is thought to be necessary for governments to impose a higher tax on this kind of food. However, this action is pointless to me. In this essay, I will analyse why imposing a higher tax on fast food won't no any good.

First of all, the industry of fast food plays an important role in our economy. In fact, in a research which is carried out by a group of scientists last year, this industry occupies 10% of the international economy. Fast food industry also creates a huge amount of work for society. Without it, thousands of people working in this field would be unemployed. This will have negative effect on the world.

Secondly, I strongly believe that people who are suffering from health problems caused by eating too much fast food have to take responsibility for their own action. Those KFC, McDonald, Burger King, Lotteria - none of them has ever forced anyone to eat their products. But still there are millions of burgers, fries, chicken nuggets are bought everyday. Customers themselves make the choice to eat fast food so that they have to pay the price and this price costs their own health. Fast food industry itself doesn't have any faults.

Last but not least, imposing a higher tax on fast food will not change anything. Obviously it will make it harder for people to sell or buy fast food, but this action will never totally solve the problem. It simply because that is not the answer for such difficult problem like this. Moreover, people still have a desire for such banned things like drugs or heroin, I am sure that just by increasing the tax of fast food won't be able to prevent many famous brands in this industry from keeping selling them, as long as millions of people still buy them. So the main problem is how to change people's mind about these food, it is the only method for this situation.

Overall, fast food industry itself is innocent. It is people's habits and choices have been responsible for their own health problems that they are suffering from. People changing their mind and making different, positive choices will be the answer for this harsh question. So, the next time you step into a fast food restaurant, think carefully and make the right choice.
