Irritants For Theater-goers
The bar chart gives the results of a survey on what theater-goers find disturbing during the performances. Fourteen irritants were reported and compared in a percentage scale. They could be divided into three groups based on their similarity.
The first group of options involves unexpected disturbances. About 78% of the participants choose coughing, which makes it the most annoying thing in the group. Sneezing is mentioned less frequently, by nearly half of the people surveyed. The least popular choices are tall people and big hairdos (35% and 30% of the respondents).
Among troubles from technical equipment, mobile phones have the leading percentage of more than 50%. It is followed by bleeps which are a disturbance to over 40% of theater-goers. Flash photography is also a technical irritant complained by almost 30%.
The third group has six disturbances which are intentionally caused. Rustling sweet papers is selected most commonly (about 90% of theater-goers). The proportions of arriving late, whispering and snoring are 72%, 60% and 31%. Armrest hogging has the lowest percentage in the category, just about 20%.
In overall, the irritants for theater-goers with the highest percentages are rustling sweet papers and coughing. Otherwise, flash photography, big hairdos and armrest hogging cause troubles to the least number of the poll participants.
