Please help me with my essay

The number of older people is increasing. Some people think that this will cause problems in their countries; others believe this group is important to society. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Today most people can expect to live into their sixties and beyond. Every country in the world is experiencing growth in both the size and the proportion of older persons in the population. Although it is believed by some that this can pose complicated problems for the government, I am of stronger belief that this group plays a crucial role in the community.

On the one hand, several people consider that the increasing number of elders may have detrimental effects on the progress of a country. Aging population is known as unproductive group which does not bring about profits for societies but they require significant pension and utilize health care services. If society has a huge proportion of elders, the government has to pay a massive expenditure on pension while this massive state coffer can meet the need of citizens in improving various affairs of life. Moreover, older generations do not have the ability to give birth because of their poor health, which leads to an imbalanced population in some countries. For example, the longevity of elders in Japan has increased, and it accounted for 35% of their total population, now they have to adapt to low-income lives due to high taxes.

On the other hand, many argue that elderly people make a lot of contributions for the sake of society. Older people have precious experiences gained over their whole life and fundamental to tackle any harsh situations. For instance, grandparents always guide their children with valuable lessons as well as how to become a decent person because children will be the future of the country. With the improvement of the era, they completely have the power to work more than the retired age. Enormous elders can reduce the proportion of committing a crime as the elderly tend to use less alcohol and drugs than adolescents. Therefore, elderly people are an essential part to built and shape the society.

In conclusion, while there are diverse notions, I believe that the longevity of elder people provides abandoned knowledge for youngsters to enhance our society
