Vietnamese society has changed significantly in the past decades. However, many traditional values and practices have been lost, which is a pity. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is believed that there has been a significant change in Vietnamese society in the past decades and this leads to the loss of many traditional cultural values. Even though I concur that Vietnam has changed greatly, I firmly believe our traditional values have still remained and been protected well.

On the one hand, Vietnam has changed significantly in recent decades. Firstly, the evolution of the economy has gradually transformed from agriculture to industry, young people are no longer engaged in agricultural production and machines even replace human labor on farms in some regions, today, many people tend to join the industry and service industry. Moreover, the living condition of Vietnamese people is improved step by step, every child has opportunities to have a good education that lessens illiteracy and help the economy simulate. Besides that, health care services are widely approached, residents’ health is ensured, and decrease the possibility of getting several diseases that used to thread many lives in the past like bird flu.

On the other hand, Vietnamese society has altered a lot but many traditional values and practices still remained well. Traditional festivals like Tet Nguyen Dan, Den Hung festival, Chua Huong festival, Lim festival still play an important part in every Vietnamese people’s spiritual life. They celebrate them every year to honor and memorize traditional values that their forefather passed on the future generations. Furthermore, foreigners can recognize Vietnamese women by the Ao dai_ their iconic, they wear them at weddings, ceremonies, or even at work. For instance, flight attendants in Vietnam Airlines wear Ao dai as their uniforms, which shows how proud and patriotic they are toward their fatherland.

To sum up, I agree that Vietnamese society has changed substantially in recent decades, however, the Vietnamese are protecting and remaining their traditional cultural values well.
