Dear Madam/Sir,
My name is AT, I will be graduating from the University of Paris 8 with a master of art in Culture and Communication specialising in Music Industry. I am writing this letter to express my interest in the full-time position as a Social Community Executive for the music streaming service Spotify in Vietnam. While I am convinced that this job will challenge me to take further steps in this professional career, I also feel confident that my experiences in creating contents for different purposes, combined with my interdisciplinary academic background and my passion for music, makes me ideally suited for this position.
Thanks to my dear parents who wanted to develop my artistic sensibility, I had the chance to take piano lessons from the age of six. Music has dramatically influenced every aspect of my life since then as it made me grow into the person I am today. I am obsessed with music and have always desired to be a music connoisseur. I am not just a frequent concert-goer, my passion for music has allowed me to explore myself as a pianist, a music teacher, a manager of a music club which aimed to enhance music skills and sensibility of the youth by offering free concerts and music courses in my hometown.
I was lucky enough to combine these passions and experiences into dream jobs at several communication agencies and the local television. As an intern and a part-time junior editor, I had the chance to participate in the conduct of several artistic and cultural projects (including singing competitions, music programs, and commercial videos) and the creation of editorial contents. They allowed me to develop my skills in reviewing musical performances and writing in-depth features on songs and musicians. They fostered my ability to articulate information and ideas clearly as well as generate engaging contents. I am accustomed to writing articles of different formats, to adapt the writing to different media and to manage any online document and publication. Moreover, I had the opportunity to get familiar with a variety of software of editing photos (Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom) and videos (Adobe Premier and Edius). I’d also learnt that in addition to specific skills, strong interpersonal and collaborative skills are essential.
My prior studies, especially the master’s program at the university of Paris 8, have provided me specialised knowledge in music industry through the relevant coursework in the history of the music industry, the political economy of the music industry, the aesthetic of music, music tastes, etc. I have also learned that the music industry has finally been growing again since 2016 for the first time in over a decade, thanks to streaming services. I am eager to witness how Spotify will change the way Vietnamese people consume music and benefit Vietnamese artists as they have already done in other developed countries in the world.
For all the reasons and motivations mentioned above, I hope that you will take my application into consideration and give me the opportunity to discuss my qualifications in further detail.
I am looking forward to your positive response.
