Please help me with IELTS Writing Task 2 essay below

Topic: Nowadays, it is possible to use computers and mobile phones to translate language. Do you think this development have more advantages or more disadvantages?

Due to the revolution of information technology, nowadays people can easily translate foreign languages by using translation function which is already integrated in computers or mobile phones. In my opinion, this advanced function will bring both advantages and disadvantages for users.

Firstly, using computers or mobile phones to translate foreign language is a time consuming way in comparison with using paper dictionary. With these technological devices you just need to type exactly the word you want to translate into any other languages in the Internet then press “Enter”, while you have to spend more time to look for the location of this word in the huge dictionary which contains a plenty of pages.

Otherwise, many experts of linguistic recommend that looking for vocabulary in paper dictionary is better for you to remember the new words. Because searching the word in dictionary requires more effort from you than using your phones or computers. You have to visualize continuously the vocabulary in your head while looking for its meaning in paper dictionary and it helps you remember this word in longer time. In addition, you also try to remember the alphabet order of that language when you use paper dictionary which you do not need to do with translation in mobile phones or computers.

In conclusion, mobile phones and computers’ translating function is very useful for people who do not have much time in their hands to understand a foreign language in short time, but you also will forget what you learn as quickly as you got it, therefore I think if you have a serious intention to know about any other languages you should use paper dictionary.
