Nowadays many people choose to be self-employed, rather than to work for a company or organization.

Why might be this case ?

What could be the disadvantage of being self – employed ?

These days, it is more common that many people leave their nine to five job behind or even they do not want to work for any organizations after graduating. Instead, they establish their own business. This essay will present some reasons why they do that and highlight some drawbacks they might have when running business by their own.

First of all, to explain why it is a trend for the majority to choose to be self-employed could be the benefits that it brings to them. It is clear to be seen that if people work for company means that they will have to get permission to do everything let alone some supervisors who always breath down employee’s neck. Therefore, a lot of pressure in work environment is created which leads employee feel uncomfortable. In comparison with doing business by their own, they can make their decision by themselves as well as keep the profits when their company is prosperous.

In addition, for the people who have entrepreneurial spirit, they take it into account doing business as their passion in life. It is such a good way for them to attain more experiences and they can really learn the ropes which working for company can not bring enough.

However, turning to another spectrum, establishing an enterprise is quite challenging and demanding. There are a lot of risks that the entrepreneur has to face with. For instance, making the decision at the right time is very crucial in business. It is not an overstatement to say that just one wrong decision can lead the business go bankrupt, all the business man’s possession be on the line. How stressful is that! As a result, many people who are unsuccessful in business and can not stand with pressure choose to make away with themselves.

Furthermore, for the majority of people who run business, they are quite busy all the time. It is hard for them to switch off the weekend as well as have the work-life balance. That is because they are carrying the can for a lot of employees in the organization. If the company collapses, which means those people will be in unemployed circumstance.

All in all, running business can brings lots of benefits but it also has disadvantages that people should consider carefully before doing it. It does not need to be rush to run a business when people do not have enough preparations.
