The table shows data about the number of native speakers of six languages as well as the number of speakers of these languages as an additional language.
Mandarin Chinese is most used by native speakers, and English is considered as an additional language which is more common than others.
According to the table, Mandarin Chinese is spoken with the highest number all around the world (900 million native speakers and 190 million non-native speakers). Besides that, what is remarkable about English is that the number of speakers of English as a second language is more numerous than that of native speakers (603 and 339 million correspondingly).
The total number of Hindi speakers (490 million) is roughly equal to that of Spanish speakers (420 million), while people speak Hindi as an other choice more popularly (120 million) than speaking Spanish (70 million). In addition, native speakers of Arabic and Portuguese are similar in number with 206 million and 203 million respectively. However, the number of Portuguese speakers as a second language is a fifth of that of Arabic speakers.
