The picture illustrates the process used by the Australia Bureau of Meteorology to forecast the weather.
There are four steps in the process, beginning with the collected information in terms of weather. After that, this information is analyzed, prepared for presentation and broadcast to the public in the end.
Looking at the first and second stages of the process carefully, there are three ways of collecting information and also three ways of analyzing it. Firstly, incoming information can be received by satellite and taken to analyze as a satellite photo. On the other hand, it can also be passed to a radar station and presented on a radar screen or synoptic chart. Secondly, incoming data may be received directly by radar and analyzed on a radar screen or synoptic chart.
At the third stage of the process, the weather forecast is prepared on computers. Finally, it will be brought to the public on the television, on the radio or as a recorded telephone announcement.
