Some people say that too much attention and too many resources are given in the protection of wild animals and birds. Do you agree or disagree about this opinion?
The idea that the protecting of wildlife draw too much concern and too many resources of society is supported by a lot of people. I totally agree with this point.
The issue of preservation of wild animals and birds has grown exaggeratedly in importance and received too much concentration in recent years. First, more and more non-government organizations have established and taken a leading role in protecting animals all over the world. They sometimes attach too much essence to animal-saving activities. For example, that PETA, an animal-protecting organization, accused Katy Perry of taking viciously tigers' fur and elephants' tusks for her own music video has provoked fierce debate among numerous animal lovers and NGOs. This accusation, however, seemed to be unreasonable and unfair for Katy because she did not really do such cruel thing and as a result she successfully proved herself innocent. Furthermore, news about wild animals often becomes a leading article and spreads rapidly on newspapers. For example, if a bear is imprisoned for the purpose of gall withdrawing, news about this will be shared at breakneck speed via some platforms such as Facebook, Twitter,...
In addition, people have also spend too many resources protecting wild birds. The first reason would probably be governments in some developed countries have emphasized the need for birds preservation by placing a great deal of money on such activities. Especially, many experiments and research regarding to maintaining some DNA of life-threatening species, have been launched, which costed each nation considerably as a whole. Secondly, from the societal point of view, the expenditure for this protection is considered to be somewhat unnecessary. While some rural areas essentially need subsidy from the government to boost their economics and enhance their living condition, the investment in bird protection appears to be waste of money.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly argue with the idea that too much concerns are placed on protecting wild animals and birds.
First let me say that many species of animals are going extinct. The reasons for this is not a natural catastrophe like an asteroid hitting the earth (which wiped out the dinosaurs), but human activities. It is our fault.
