Scientific research should be carried out and controlled by the government rather than private companies. Do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, scientific research across the world is carried out and controlled, sometimes by the governments, sometimes by private companies. While there are some arguments in favor of scientific research by a corporation, I agree with the view that it should be conducted and supervised by the state.
As a private corporation is responsible for scientific research, there are going to bring two negative impacts on society. Firstly, nothing ensures whether sources of data involving scientific researches are completely precise or not because these companies are always known as all their main purpose is to maximize profit. Furthermore, these scientific researches are not guaranteed again that researchers might destroy the natural environment or not by the interference of certain outside elements like chemicals or virus, even though it could result in an expected outcome. For example, there is going to be detrimental to the balanced ecosystem if a personal corporation undertakes to do genetic engineering. It can lead it to pass away or be disabled unless the company takes the right step.
On the other hand, there are certain benefits from scientific researches managed by the state. There is no cheating as well as doing for their own sake. Particularly, an abundant source of information that is publicized by governments has become more relevant and more trustworthy than the report of a private company. Additionally, a huge amount of expenditure on these researches is more prioritized by the investors. Researching types of renewable energy, for example, has attracted a number of investments from experts and investors around the world.
In conclusion, I agree strongly that governments should bear sole responsibility for scientific research.
