Children nowadays spend a great deal of time watching television. However, television cannot replace the book as a learning tool, which is why children are less well-educated today. To what extent do you agree with this statement?

Answer

In contemporary life, that young adolescents are engrossed in watching TV has become a prevalent and publicly recognized phenomenon, and therefore many people consider that children are less well-schooled than in the past because of immersing themselves in TV which can not be seen as an educational tool. I completely disagree with this view.

Television has a wide range of useful and educational programs facilitating in teaching children. To explain, many education enterprises has invented channels merely with the aim of providing common knowlegde for juveniles as well as academic resources. For example, the Brain Scoop is a channel developed by an American educator to share the work and research of natural history museums with the world. It is clear that TV can now be employed for educational purposes.

Another compelling reason that pupils can benefit from watching the small screen is it makes the learning more fascinating. To be more specific, young people are now paying attention to a state-of-the-art learning method like watching documentaries on TV at their school and this method has made all the difference to the process of absorbing knowledge of children. For instance, an experiment implemented by a group of experts at National Economics University shows that more than 45 percent of pupils surveyed said they prefer involving TV in their learning to traditional learning tools. It seems that it is more interesting to learn with a modern device than merely using boards and chalks.

In conclusion, allocating time in front of the small screen not only does not make children less well-educated but also entices children to study if combined with the learning process properly.
