Many people argue that news coverage should focus more on positive news platforms. From my viewpoint, while I agree with this statement, I also consider that bad news should continue to be reported when necessary.
On the one hand, editorial policy needs to carry more good stories because they have a positive impact on public morale. Those who can increase positivity in mental health are likely to get higher motivation to work and study, hence they may labor more productively with felicitous status and meet with effective work results. For example, the news about the decreasing number of cases in covid19 infection makes residents hopeful and try to flourish the economy. Secondly, in the interests of reporting cheerful news, it can inspire good deeds. These bulletins are vital not just in terms of making civilized society, but as a means of stimulating people to take meaningful actions. For instance, a host of charitable works can encourage people to do the same thing.
Nevertheless, there are some circumstances that we shouldn't be obligated to air more positive newscasts. The first situation is when the good reports do not represent the truth and the reality is fabricated. Unfortunately, sensational journalism has resulted in much public distrust of the media. In Vietnam, for example, Kenh 14 page is underrated and boycotted by people because it shows a lot of exaggerated news. Besides, it would be misguided to introduce restrictions on the reporting of tragic news events. It is important for the public to keep abreast of these happenings in order to have some informed knowledge of contemporary issues. Civil wars, or natural disasters, for instance, which are necessary to make front page headlines.
In conclusion, while I agree that important positive messages should be given more publicity, it is necessary for the media to continue reporting the significant bad news in the world today.
