Many governments think that economic progress is their most important goal. Some people, however, think that other types of progress are equally important for a country.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Many people have different views on how governments should allocate their spending to achieve national development. Although many people claim that the economic progress is the top government’s priority, I am the view of that other factors should be taken into account equally in the regard.

In the one hand, there are several reasons for governments to concentrate on the economic progress. Firstly, it cannot be denied that national income allows the government’s expenditure which contributes to the development of a nation. Indeed, increasing national income could lead to being more competitive in the international scenario. For example, China has become one of the most powerful countries due to its economic growth. Secondly, governments attempt to allocate resources into economic progress because this may encourage the development of other factors such as public services, educational systems, and infrastructure.

On the other hand, many argue that not only economic progress should be the most concentration, but other signs of progress such as human rights and environmental protection must be taken into account as important as the economy in that regard. Indeed, the development of a country is judged by how well their policies applying to citizens and environmental issues. For example, governments should allocate their resources on environmental researches or innovation to enhance our community. This would be lead to alleviate the air quality in most developing countries like China, Vietnam, and others where pollution became the most considered problem.

In conclusion, although the economy is a key role of a country’s success, I believe that social, and environmental criteria are equally significant.
