Some people say that the best way to improve public health is by increasing the number of sports facilities. Others, however, say that this would have little effect on public health and that other measures are required. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion

While some people subscribe to the view that supplying more sports amenities is the optimal solution to improving citizens' health, others opposed to this idea and argue that other methods are better. Personally, I agree with the second opinion.

On the one hand, there are reasons why some people think that the increasing popularity of gym classes would greatly enhance individuals' health. The availability of health clubs and sports centers in not only central places but also more remote areas would encourage more people to participate in physical activities. For example, the opening of a new gym in my town evoked people’s curiosity and a large number of residents have registered for a membership. In this way, citizens have the chance to doing daily physical exercises or sports, which could eliminate stress and diseases namely diabetes, obesity and heart attack.

On the other hand, I suppose that the provision of sports facilities has little influence on public health and other measures are required. To start with, many people who paid for an annual gym membership failed to go entirely after just a few months, leading to wasted money and time. In addition to exercising, citizens should have a healthy nutritional balanced diet and remove their habit of junk food consumption. Furthermore, only when people are equipped with sufficient basic knowledge about health care, can the potential health problems be handled. For instance, if youngsters are aware of the adverse effects of using alcohol and smoking, they might be less likely to smoke or drink when they grow up.

In conclusion, I believe that the increasing number of sports amenities can hardly enhance the community members’ heath, and other measures should be implemented.
