The table compares the number of workers and factories in two areas: UK and Wales over 50-year period between 1851 and 1901. Overall, it is clear that the number of total workers in 2 areas went down over the period, while the figure of factories saw a significantly increased.
In 1851, the total number of staff was the biggest number, with 287.000 male staffs, 190.000 female staffs. In contrast, there was a lowest number of factories, with only 225. Another interesting point, the figure was significantly increased to 721 in 1881. Following this year, the number of total employees also fell roughly to 126,123 workers.
In the end of the period, the number of total employees had the smallest figure, compared to other previous years, just 61,000 workers with respective figure of 31,000 male staffs and 30,000 female staffs. Meanwhile, the number of factories saw a falling trend, declining from 625 in 1891 to 600 in 1901.
