Please help me to proofread my essay, thanks
My name is Li XX, 17 years old. I will graduate from XX Senior Middle School, XX Province in June 2010. My total score in secondary school has been ranking in the top five in my class. I had two alternatives to choose before high school graduation last: either to take part in the national college entrance examination to receive college education in China, or, more challenging to me, to select a university in for further schooling. My parent and I have discussed carefully on selection of these two alternatives. At the end under thorough considerations, the whole family decided that I should go to XX University for advanced education, it will lay a solid foundation for my future broad scientific research.
From my young age, I have always followed my parent to travel around the nation in my vacation, what I saw and heard during the journey greatly enriched my experience and expanded my vision. I really comprehend that traveling thousands of miles is the same important as reading thousands of books as an ancient Chinese wise man once said. All along my secondary school, I always act as a red-capped recruiting volunteer carrying bags or directing parents to a nearby shop during freshman move-in days. From these activities, I have learned how to communicate with others, how to always put care of others first, and enjoy helping others.
My interest in science dates back to my years in high school, where I excelled in physics, chemistry and math. I have earned a lot of prizes in contesst on physics and other subjects hosted by the nation or the province, some important prizes are: Bronze Medal of the 6th XingAo Cup League Matches of Physics(May/''08), Third Prize of Hubei in the 25th National Physics Contest for High School Students(May/''08), and Third Prize of Grade Eight in Application of the National Middle School Physics Competition(May/''06).
My special interests in physcis owes to my father, he is a Ph.D on Architectural acoustics, he once gave me three books entitled ” A Short History of Nearly Everything”(written by Bill Bryson), “Epic of Evolution: Seven Ages of the Cosmos”(written by Eric J. Chaisson) and “A Brief History of Time”(written by Stephen Hawking); Frankly, I can’t understand many contents of them, however, they really stimulate my desire to explore the natural world.
After careful studies of the alternative universities, I finally come to identify . I know that this university, founded in XX, recently named one of the best colleges in the northeast by the Princeton Review, many internationally renowned scientists, artists, critics, scholars. Another thing about interested me is that there are XX intercollegiate athletic teams in men’s basketball, because I like playing basketball very much. Of course, the most important factor to attend XX University is her unique program in Physics.
If I can have the honor to be enrolled by XX University, I will study on physics, and choose energy studies as my future research direction. I plan to continue studying at the field till I get higher degree. After completion of the study in United States, I will come back to to find a research position in a university or institute, to teach and research on new energy development. I am confident about this.
