Dear Sir / Madam,
I am writing this letter again to apply to the master program Neuroscience. I hold a master degree in Clinical Psychology in university of Azad. Through the three years I have spent at the University of Azad, I start working at the "Hamrah", Child & Adolescent Multidisciplinary Neuropsychiatric Center until now. I am part of a team that provide training protocols for children and adolescent who needs cognitive training and biofeedback with QEEG, brain mapping assessment that show areas of the brain where there is too little or too much activity, and areas that are not coordinating their activity the best they could, and also conducting and interpreting IQ and neuropsychology test and counseling. I would like to have the opportunity to enroll in this program, because I hope to gain more knowledge and experience to do research in neuroscience beside my work. Neuroscience is a field of study I am very interested in. According to my experience and thesis that I worked, I believe I have the qualifications to complete this master successfully. My career ambition is to become a doctor researching.
My interest in neuroscience started when I learned a little bit about how the brain works at “Neuroendocrine Physiology” lesson at bachelor program when I studied the “Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology” from “Solomon”. Then I studied “foundations of physiological psychology” from “Carlson” in Sixth semester, Because of the curiosity toward this subject I immediately became curious about that matter also working experience with Dr. Nazari in center, so I have prepared myself for advanced graduate study in neuroscience. I have conducted my thesis, under supervisor Dr. Mohammad Ali Nazari, University of Azad, on the “Effectiveness of Cognitive enhancement on Temporal processing precision”. This included data collection of 8 children, running a computerized test which took 20 minutes per child, running statistical analysis on those results and data mining for similar previously conducted studies, also I am preparing manuscript for publishing the results. I have gained some experience on the field of ERP and I have created some tasks by the contribution of my supervisor Dr Nazari. However one of my friends investigated the time perception on the healthy and hyperactive children and I cooperate with her by clinically assessing and conducting the children test and now I am interested in studying the effect of time perception on the athletes and normal individuals and I want to do this project with pretest posttest design between two groups, a test group and a control. I want to investigate the above mentioned issues. I like the fact that the research field is aimed at understanding normal and pathological brain function. I want to follow this master program, because I believe it is a very good master to learn how to do research.
Although I like all subjects in the field of cognition and neuroscience, especially time perception that was my master thesis, I am interested in working memory, and emotion. I really like doing research to investigate more working memory functions between interpreter and written translator and differences in their working memory .Emotion is a very interesting subject too, I believe. A lot of cognitions can be influenced by this phenomenon.
I am a motivated and ambitious person. I also like to do things as good well as possible, In addition to my academic and related activities, I manage to keep an active lifestyle azeri dancing, coaching in martial arts in my town and swimming. In my free time I also enjoy cooking. I feel that in balancing academic, work and family activities, I have developed into a person who is confident, competent, assertive, reliable, resilient and compassionate.
I hope I informed you well enough to consider my acceptance.
Yours faithfully,
Vida
