Please help me to correct these sentences

Due to an unforeseen family issues, I am still held up at my home town since last week.
Therefore, I kindly request you to grant me a emergency leave for 20 days which starting 12/02/2016.
I thank you for your consideration as this emergency leave will enable me to both care for my family members in this urgent situation and focus on my work more clearly once I return.
I appreciate your assistance in this matter and look forward to hearing your response.
