1u00"Biography 02u02br 02br 00My name is XXXXXX, I was born on the XX November in 1987 in a small town called 00. From the age of 3 I went to the Montessori Kindergarten in 00, there I was taught that it is important to respect disabled people as a part of the society. In the kindergarten we played together and supported each other. When I was 6 years old I changed to the elementary school in 00. We didn’t just learned about the subject matter, we also learned a lot about the so called soft skills. If somebody in the class had a problem, we discussed this in the class and tried to help him. In my class there were a lot of kids with a different ethnical background. They grew up in an environment which caused a lot of problems for them, in the class we tried to help them solve their problems and to support them.02br 02br 00One day our teacher told us that a boy from our class had tried to rob an old lady. We all sat together and asked the boy why he had done this. He was visible ashamed and didn’t know what to say. He admitted that he had done something really bad. At the end of the discussion he promised to us, that he would never do something like this again. As long as I was in contact with him I never heard of an incident like this!02br 02br 00Regrettably the tie with a lot of my friends from the elementary school broke we all went to different schools and some moved away. After the elementary school I visited the XXXXXXXGymnasium in XXXX00. There I made a lot of new friends. When we were in the lower grades our class was hated by the teachers, because they thought we had no discipline, but they didn’t gave us the chance to them that we got discipline. Until today we are the class with the strongest company. Over the years a great 00solidarity is grown between us. Although our class was divided into courses, we still hold together. 02br 02br 00Because my parents both worked when I was young, I had a nanny who looked after me. About a year ago, this women started to work voluntarily for the “Tafel” it’s a non-profit association which collects food from the local supermarkets and gives it to poor people. The food they collect is still good, but the best before date is so close that they can’t sell it anymore. The supermarkets have two choices, they throw it away or they donate it to the “Tafel”. It’s a lot of work because the supermarkets give away everything they want to throw away and so the people of the “Tafel” have to select what they take. The food is stored in an old bakery with a cold storage room, so they also can store meat and dairy products.02br 02br 00My nanny was so enthused by this concept that she founded a “Tafel” in 00 which works the same way. I started working there voluntarily in fall 2006. There is a lot to do and because I still visit school till march 2007 I can’t help them everyday, but I do as much as possible. The most time I spend selecting the food we take or don’t take from the supermarkets and then I have to carry it to the storage from where its been distributed. I also help to hand out the food. It’s a good feeling to have the chance to help people. These people, who live under very bad conditions, give so much gratitude that it is a fulfilling job to help them!02br 02br 00Unfortunenately we got the conscription in 010200, so every man has to serve in the army for one year, when he finished school. That has never been an option to me. Luckily there is a German law which allows the men to deny the service in the army.00 00Instead the men can work for nine month in a social project for example in a residential home for the elderly, in a hospital or in a community with disabled people. It was no decision for me which way I would go. In 010200 there is a quite recent law which allows the men to fulfill their so called “Zivildienst” the social service in a foreign country. That sounded interesting to me and I started to collect information on the internet. Some of my relatives started asked me why I really needed to fulfill my civilian service in a foreign country, they told that 010200 has enough problems. I think that help is needed everywhere in the world and its everywhere as important as it is here! When I was in the 1101sup00th02sup00 grade I wanted00 00to participate in a exchange of students, but my mother couldn’t afford it. But now I’m getting a whole new chance. I get the chance to participate at the everyday life in a form it never would be possible in a student exchange."02br 00Sorry the text is quite long, the most important thing is the grammar! It would be great if someone finds the time to read just briefly through the text. Big thanks!! 0-
