Please help me to correct the sentence?

We received a table lamp without shade, and the supplier insisted us to take the lamp shade from the shades supplied earlier which does not correspond to the specification of the shade provided.

I don't wish to argue but, in my opinion, as the suppliers "insisted" (not "suggested") the word "could" would be better be replaced with "should" (or even "must").

Suppliers do not 'insist' in such bold terms. You are evidently not in commerce.

Your rephrasing used the word "insisted" shortly followed by the word "could" the word "could" when used in such a way is NOT demanding or commanding (it suggests a choice). As the word "insisted" is more "commanding" and not offering a choice, it is still my opinion that the follow up word should not be "could" but more commanding such as "should or must".
