ESSAY

The Internet has enable people to connect with others easier than ever before. While many believe that this can help us become closer and more united, there are undoubtedly numerous disadvantages to this situation.

First of all, I believe the Internet is responsible for making people, especially teenagers, become socially inactive. The Internet is highly capable of rendering us lazy as well as being time- consuming because many people are heavily dependent on it. As a result, an increasingly number of people have spent less time outdoor with friends, families or joined social activities. Furthermore, they do not have the opportunity nor the energy to develop social or communication skills thus having difficulty in socializing face to face with others. In addition, the friendship people have in the Internet also distracts them from more realistic and essential relationships in life such as their family or close friends. In fact, many of us tend to spend more time with people on the Internet that we hardly know.

On the other hand, it is acknowledged that the Internet foster relationships and allow us to interact with many people around the globe. One example of this is that we can now stay in touch with our relatives via the Internet, irrespective of the separating distances. Additionally, many people can have the chance to participate in a larger community online and share their experience and knowledge with one another. This can undeniably bring the whole world closer and help people form rapport with others. On that basis, the society can be more close-knitted and have the chances for further development. Notwithstanding, the negative impact the Internet has is till significant. In my opinion, many people have not made good use of the Internet and interact less and less with others. Despite its potential, the Internet has in fact hindered many relationships in life.

In conclusion, the disadvantages of the Internet on social relationships outweigh the advantages. Even though the Internet can help the society become more united, it has, until now, made us less interactive with one another.
