Please help me to correct my essay

The line graph compares four different countries in terms of the average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per capita from 1967 to 2007 inclusive.

It is clear that United Kingdom saw the highest CO2 emissions per person over the period of 40 years. Overall, two out of four countries experienced a decrease trend in the emissions, while remained two saw an opposite trend.

In 1967, each British was responsible for just under 11 tons of CO2 emissions, while this figure for Swedish was around 9 tons. By contrast, the numbers of average emitted CO2 per capita in Italy and Portugal were around 4.2 and 1.2 tons respectively. Over the following 10 years, the emissions in Sweden increased rapidly and reached its peak at just over 10 tons.

The average CO2 emissions per person in the UK fell down gradually to around 9 tons in 2007 compared to approximately 5.5 tons in Portugal and Sweden. This figure for Italy went up steadily to nearly 7.8 tons in 1997 and kept stable until 2007.
