It is important for children to learn the difference between right and wrong at an early age. Punishment is necessary to help them learn this distinction.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion.
Answer
It is true that children should learn to distinguish between right and wrong at an early age. To certain extent I would argue that penalty is sometimes being a good way to promote this learning process, I also believe that alternatives should be taken.
There are several reasons to think that punishments help children to learn faster. Firstly, children at the early age do not have enough self-awareness to learn something new by themselves, therefore when they fear of being punished, they will be hungry to learn. Some recommended punishments that parents can use are not allow their kid to eat candy or not allow to play video games when kids can not achieve set goals. Secondly, it is sometimes difficult to instruct tough kids, therefore punishments are good choice in this situation. Finally, apart from teaching children how to differentiate between right and wrong, penalties will also teach them self-disciplined behavior.
On the other hand, there are many other methods to help our kids to learn the distinction between right and wrong. Chief among these ways is by showing them a realistic example in real life or they can be touch via comics, cartoons which are really interesting. For example, in “Tom and Jerry” cartoon, it is very ridiculous easy to let our kids know the things Tom has done are wrong. In addition to this, such kind of methods are not only good for particular cases, but also can be well applied to nurture kids in almost aspects of life.
In conclusion, punishments and alternatives should be taken at the same time to help our kids differentiate between right and wrong.
