Please help me to check this Ielts writing task 2 - Advertisement. Many thanks!

Consumers are faced with increasing numbers of advertisements from competing companies. To what extent do you think are consumers influenced by advertisements? What measures can be taken to protect them?

It is undeniable that the numbers of advertisements from competing enterprises have been significantly climbing. From my own perspective, this situation is detrimental to consumers, in general, and there are certain methods which could be taken to deter such bad effects.

The countless advertisements from companies who are each other’s opponent may badly influence intended costumers. Firstly, information in term of products’ functions and quality could be distorted by manufacturers to make people think that their goods are the best. To be specific, an owner, in order to make their products stand out among a wide range of similar one, could recklessly provide fake information to mislead his or her customers. Secondly, in an attempt to attract as much potential consumers as possible, many “hot” sale programs are being constantly broadcasted by every means of delivering information. Without a doubt, those sale events solely aim to benefit the owners eventually rather than the customers, in other words, they urge people, who are not aware of, to buy goods that are unnecessary for their demands.

Hence, some certain measures are needed to be taken immediately to protect innocent consumers. First of all, government should promulgate regulations to set a time limit which the advertising programs would be allowed to display. This would be the first step to reduce chances that costumers may counter the harmful advertisements and therefore decrease their bad influences on watchers at the end. Besides, a law regarding the advertising information also should be set out. To be precise, the governmental agencies need to ensure the accuracy of the products’ or services’ information contained in each advertisement, especially in sensitive fields such as food and medicine industry.

By way of conclusion, I would contend that as the increased numbers of advertisements from the competing firms are having negative effects on the current costumers, the government should promptly take some steps to protect its citizens and at the end, to ensure the nation’s poverty.
