Topic: Theoretical subjects should not be taught at university because most students have chosen practical subjects. To what extend do you agree or disagree?
Students studying in the universities have to apply both theoretical subjects and practical subjects for their degree qualification. However, they are arguing that theoretical subjects should be removed as most of them prefer to choose practical subjects. I personally think that both kinds of subjects are fairly important that can not be excluded in the study program.
There are several reasons not considering the importance of theoretical subjects. First, theoretical subjects just include theory that easily put students into the boredom. The content of these subjects are likely difficult to understand and utilize in actual lives. Math, for example, comprise those definition of sin, cos, tan which hardly ever seen in the life. Second, lecturers teaching these subjects are rarely interact with students as if their students have already understood what they said at the beginning. May be it is hard to transfer the abstract definition to students.
However, I believe that the value of theoretical subjects bring to people are not neglected. The knowledge in theoretical subjects are more general and overall which then divided into many practical subjects. That's why theoretical subjects are normally put in one of the first courses need to be completed in the university. It is the foundation knowledge that then expand in various majors later. Studying and having experiments of practical subjects would not be deeply understood if students do not link the results with the theory made up them.
In conclusion, although practical subjects are more selected by students in the university, theoretical subjects are very crucial that should not be threw out from the study program.
