My family has a long-established tradition to hold all the celebrations in a year, especially religious ones. Our great family always gathers together on important holidays such as Tet holiday, thanks giving day, Easter day, birthdays and Christmas day. My family also decorates our house beautifully with things related to the holiday. We have big parties, recreation activities and a lot of laughter on these occasions. My most favorite holiday celebration is Christmas.
Every year at the approach of Christmas’ day, we become extremely excited about preparing for the most important celebration of us, Christians. My mom and my aunts go to markets to buy special food such as big turkeys, chocolate, vegetables and fruits, beef and pork, cream cakes, etc. They prepare all the ingredients for the Christmas’ eve party dishes. My brothers, my cousins and I take care of the inner decorations; we buy things like plastic angels, candy cane, cards, ornaments, Santa clauses, wreaths while my father goes up the pine hill to chop one medium-sized green pine tree and put it in the corner of our cozy living room. We help him to put a big golden star in the top of it and cover the pine tree with decorations we buy. After half an hour, we have a splendid sparkle Christmas tree with LED lights. I always attach a big green wreath on our front door to welcome our guests. When everybody has come, everything is ready for the party’s opening. My grandmother starts saying prayers and all of us repeat her words. Then meal is served in candle light and Christmas Carols. The room is filled with golden color and the holy warm atmosphere of Christmas’ eve. We eat and chat happily until finishing our meal. After meal, we get to our back garden to see the Holy Cave of Christ and listen to the story of Christ born at Christmas night.
Christmas is one of the most important celebrations of our family. It is the best time of the year when our family members spend time together. I love Christmas holiday the most because I can do many things I like with my family.
