Below is a chart showing how many hours per week the average person spent on various kinds of media, including watching TV, surfing on the Internet, listening to the radio, and reading printed material. The years covered are from 1990 to 2005.

Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information.

You should write at least 150 words.

The line graph gives information about the medium of time people used in one week for distinguished types of entertaining means such as televisions, web pages, radios, off-line materials between 1990 and 2005.

Overall, the proportion of the hours one person wasted on the internet, radio and printed material increased while that of television fell during the period from 1990 to 2005. The number of hours of television consumption was entirely higher than that of the other mediums through 15 years.

Firstly, the data on off-line material was about double the hours spent on the radio in 1990. From 1990 and over the average times a person consumed steadily declined from around 7 hours to nearly 2.5 hours. Additionally, the period from 1990 to 2000 witnessed a slight fluctuation of the radio line. Over the year 2000, the figure for radio started to rise gradually reaching around 5 hours in 2005.

From 1990 to about 1993, the number of hours a person using Internet was lowest at exactly 0 hours. By contrast, the data shown on television accounted for the highest proportion (25 hours). Both shares of Internet and television leveled off at 0 hours and 25 hours respectively in the same period. After around 1993 and over, the hours a person wasted on television considerably dropped at almost 17.5 hours whilst that on Internet growth rapidly 3 times at about 14.5 hours.
