Please help me simplify this sentence

Hi, I'm having troubles understanding the following sentence:

“if the injury occurs at an identifiable point in time, requiring the employee to discontinue employment and seek treatment.”

Can anyone help me explain the meaning of the sentence, especially "an identifiable point in time"? Thank you so much.

To add to Optilang's explanation, two more qualifications: from that point in time, the employee can no longer perform his job, and he must try to obtain professional medical care for the injury.

Hi,
“if the injury occurs at an identifiable point in time, requiring the employee to discontinue employment and seek treatment.”

The phrase in italics can have legal importance.

Consider Tom. He has a bad accident at work, and his doctor says that he can't work for six months.
Now there are two possibilities.
1. His boss may say 'OK, see you in

Hi Clive. I wondered about that, but took it as bad writing. I was thinking of it as part of a company policy manual, in which case they would never admit something like that. But now I'm thinking it may be from a State Employment Security manual, or something of that nature, where the company is often viewed as the enemy.
