Dear Prof. Dr. NAME X,



I am writing to apply for the Master’s Program in Economics and Management Science at the UNIVERSITY X for the upcoming autumn semester.

My higher education started in 1994 when I enrolled the UNIVERSITY Y, one of the best and most prestigious engineering colleges of . I completed the Engineering Program by 1999, majoring in Industrial Electrical Engineering with very good grades. My engineering studies included a few subjects about economics and management and since then I decided to pursue my education in these two areas.

During my engineering course I worked as an internal in four companies to earn work experience. And as soon as I completed the program I was hired as a Systems Engineer by COMPANY X, a multinational company of telecommunication industry. I worked as an Engineer for two and a half years and then I was offered a Project Manager position. Thru this new assignment I could develop my management skills and also learn a lot about business strategies.

After almost seven years working in Brazil I left the company last April and then I worked for four more months in ’s subsidiary of COMPANY X, also as a Project Manager. During this period I had a great experience living in and I could enhance both my management and my interpersonal skills as my team had people from all over the world. I think my work experience gave me a good background in management.

In order to prepare myself for the Master’s Program I have been studying Economics at the UNIVERSITY Z since 2005. Thru these studies I could develop a strong background in economic concepts. And also in 2005 I joined the Goethe-Institut’s language course in my city so I could learn some basic Deutsch.

I chose the Master’s Program in Economics and Management Science because it is perfectly aligned with my long-term plans. After I complete the program I intend to return to my country and resume working, and I am sure my degree and my experience abroad will help me finding a good job. Maybe in one of the many German companies we have in as Siemens, Bosch and Volkswagen. Some years later I want to pursue my education starting a Ph.D. in Economics and then teach in one of Brazilian Universities.

Another reason for choosing this program is because I think my country has much to learn from . Last year’s strong growth of German economy is a result of policies that should be studied and followed by countries like . Thru the Masters Program I expect to increase my understanding about ’s capacity to overcome difficulties and to always move ahead. Moreover in 2004 I spend one week of my vacation in CITY X and I loved the city. It is for sure one of the best cities I have ever been to.

I hope my background and qualifications are enough so I can be among the fortunate applicants selected to join the Master’s Program at UNIVERSITY X.
