People usually argue about the suitable age for children to start formal education. While some support the idea that very early education is necessary, others, including me, think that it is not until children reach the age of 7 that they should study seriously.
First, early commencement of study brings numerous benefits. Citing studies into the way children learn, it is undeniable that children assimilate knowledge more easily at the young age. This may create opportunities for children to show their potential, so parents can give an appropriate orientation which specializes their children’s innate talents. Besides, children with early start in education will be more confident and enthusiastic when officially going to school, because they have already built a solid academic foundation, while others who has later start can easily fall behind with their studies.
However, some people advocate the idea of children beginning formal education after 6 years old because they think it is more vital to develop other aspects, such as metal and social sides. Starting formal schooling too early can prevent children from enjoying their childhood, which does not only help them develop necessary qualities like creativity, but also allows them to cultivate their skills and interest like music or sport. Additionally, children can spend more time with family and friends, so their bonds and social skill will be strengthened. For example, if a child is allowed to play football with friends instead of being forced to study, they will have a chance to socialize, make memories and doing sports, which will have long-termed positive effect on children’s metal and physical health.
In conclusion, although early schooling help children have better academic foundation and confidence, later start brings experience that favorably impacts on their spiritual and social life. Therefore, it would be well-advised for parents to send children to school after the age of 6 to let them enjoy valuable childhood memories.
