The discussion whether children should be taught to become a good citizen by their parents or by education at school remains debatable. Some are favoured to home education, others choose to support school teaching. In my opinion, each idea has its own reason and need not to be excluded from the other.
First of all, it is evident that home education is indispensable for every child because this is the place where a baby is born and raised throughout his/her pre-school period. Secondly, scientific evidences have proven that an infant at the first year can not only mimic the voice and motions but also perceive the emotion given by his/her parents. Therefore, teaching our children good behaviours is feasible and should be undertaken to create voluntary reflections to a good manner. However, institutional education also has its own advantage to shape individual's characters. School lessons provide an ideal enviroment for youngsters to experience ethical issues such as compliment, kindness, bravery, or patriotic spirit etc. Moreover, teachers who possess professional skills will help children learn how and why they have to do such things but avoid the others.
In my point of view, ethical instruction should be combined by both home and school education. Parents' role might be predominant during the early childhood but education from teachers plays an important role in the adolescent stage. Parents instruct fundamentals of a kind person whereas teachers and friends help children learn social skills and ethical acts at school.
In conclusion, ethical learning at home or school are both necessary for the maturation of a child. Every child deserves to receive well education from their parents and schools to build up a responsible citizen in the society.
