Some people think that the government should ban dangerous sport should be banned. Others believe that people should have the freedom to do any sports or activities. Discuss both views and give your opinion

It is sometimes suggested that governments should impose a ban on extreme sports. While it is true that these types of physical activity might entail some risks to participants, I think that taking up risky sports is largely a matter of personal choice.

On the one hand, it seems that people who argue against the practice of dangerous sports have their sound reasons. More often than not, such sporting activities are associated with a high rate of injury due to the nature of the environment where they take place. Take cliff jumping for example, this activity involves participants throwing themselves off a high cliff and land into a body of water. It is not uncommon for practitioners to suffer from head trauma and back pain if they hit the water hard or collide with an underwater rock. Furthermore, anyone who wants to have a go at extreme sports would have to spend a large amount of money on training courses as well as protective equipment. Without appropriate safety measures and guidelines, they might well run the risk of losing their own lives.

Despite the arguments/negatives mentioned above, I believe that everyone should be free to decide how they spend their leisure time. As a matter of fact, it would be wrong for politicians to restrict people’s right to engage in such recreational activities. In reality, popular sports such as scuba-diving and mountain climbing often bring a sense of enjoyment that can help relieve the boredom of daily life, whether it is from work or a home-based setting. Additionally, being able to accomplish a challenging and strenuous task allows one to build self-confidence, aside from other health benefits such as staying strong and healthy.

In conclusion, although taking part in extreme sports can be extra risky and dangerous, I feel that there is no need for a ban on such leisure pursuits.
