The charts below give information about the price of tickets on one airline between Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, over a two-week period in 2013.

The two bar charts compare the cost of round airline ticket between Melbourne and Sydney during two weeks in 2013.

In general, the flying cost between two cities did have a similar tendency, while the airline prices seemed to be higher on weekends than that of weekdays.

In a journey from Sydney to Melbourne, the price of flights on first-week Monday reached $80, the far most expensive one to be paid. There was a similar price on Friday and weekends for two weeks, both were sold with the price of $75, $70 and $50 respectively. However, the weekdays including Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday experienced a fall to just $40 or under.

A similar pattern could be seen in the cost of airplane tickets from Melbourne and Sydney. Flight-goers could buy an affordable price of around $35 from Tuesday to Thursday, which saw no changes in the second week. The first week’s Friday ticket price ranked first at $80, followed by $60 tickets for flights departing on Monday and Saturday. In addition, the price on Sunday remained stable regardless of the return trip.
