Essay & Composition Writing

Please help me review my IELTS Writing task 2. Thank you very much.

I was pretty confused with this topic. This essay is kinda verbose

In the past, sporting champions used to be motivated primarily by the desire to win a match or to break world records. These days they are more likely to be motivated by prize money and the opportunity to be famous.

What message does this send to young people and how does this attitude to sport affect the sports themselves?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Formerly, the aspire to win a match or to break global records is the pure motivation for sporting players. However, these days, what motivates the participants the most is the enormous prize money or the worldwide fame. This change in attitude toward sports could not only affect the sports themselves but also give the youngsters of today a requisite message.

The majority of championships nowadays is following the materialistic lifestyle in which they would consider that the pure initial purpose to win and to relish the jubilant moment brought about by the victory is subordinate to the money and the worldwide reputation. Young adults are no far from this attitude at all which they would prioritize money and physical achievements rather than the beautiful moments of their life. No doubt would they try to do anything to benefit themselves, including the most unscrupulous things such as cheating in work or study, betraying their close ones, or even deliberately causing harm to other people. Virtually none of them would even realize that they are doing wrong, or insist on them doing the right things to benefit themselves. However, it is very easy to acknowledge the players' attitude. This message is like a mirror for these young people to reflect on themselves, to see that they are nothing far from these dishonest championships.

No doubt does this ugly sporting spirit affect the sports themselves as well. Some athletes are not even hesitant at all to injure their fellow players, which would feasibly later result in severe and abiding wounds that demolish one's career for a lifetime. Because of these bad-behaved players, the sports may be misjudged as violent and callous, losing not only its equality and honesty but also the fans and lovers from all around the world.

In conclusion, the attitude towards money and reputation is detrimental to the future of the sports themselves. It is also an ideology of most youngsters today which hardly anyone could realize, or pretend not to realize.
