International travel is becoming cheaper, and countries are opening their doors to more and more tourists.
Do the advantages of increased tourism outweigh its disadvantages?

It is true that the international tourism industry has a significant increase in recent years as people can travel to overseas destinations at an affordable cost compared to the past. Despite some obvious disadvantages of this trend, I would argue that these are overweighed by the advantages.

A rise in tourist arrivals could have negative effects on the natural environment and the daily life of native residents. It can be seen that foreign visitors often have an interest in exploring the natural setting of their travel destination. Unfortunately, this would damage the ecosystems. As more illegal logging and forest clearance happen to construct buildings and resorts to serve tourists’ satisfy, which causes environmental degradation and habitat loss of animals. Besides, this trend will put pressure on some of the local inhabitants. Because many cities have experienced phenomenal growth in international tourism, these costs of living will have a noticeable rise from a wide range of housing and services. So the locals would have financial difficulty

On the other hand, I suppose the benefits of international travel would eclipse those analyzed disadvantages. First, travelers would gain memorable experiences in a new land as well as widen their horizons about different cultures and traditions. For example, when they come to Vietnam, they would have a chance to use chopsticks, eat traditional meals such as Banh Mi or enjoy spectacular natural landscapes. Second, overseas visitors contribute to the economy of the host country with the money they spend on goods and services. As a result, this creates employment opportunities for locals, thus, enhance their income and living standards. Furthermore, if tourists had positive impressions of their travel destination, they would share their feelings with friends, which helps to promote the nation’s cultural heritage and encourage people from the rest of the world to visit them.

In conclusion, it seems to me the pros of international tourism are more significant than its cons.
