My essay:

Zoos have been popular in many countries in the world. Some people argue that it is not worthwhile developing zoos since they are useless. I totally disagree with this view for the reason that zoos play a crucial role in education, research, and recreation.

First of all, a good zoo is a great environment to educate visitors about the value of wildlife animals. Urbanization has kept people from contacting with the natural environment which decreases their direct interaction with wild animals. Therefore, zoos provide good opportunities for people, especially young children to broaden their horizons about the ecosystem, biodiversity as well as the status of endangered species. In reality, a zoo trip is the best choice that many schools use to educate kids on the protection of wild animals and their natural habitats.

Secondly, good zoological parks are excellent locations to implement conservation research on wild animals. In order to protect wild species and restore their ecosystems, it is necessary to know about how they live, act and react. Zookeepers can easily manage wild populations if they have knowledge about their estrous cycle or breeding rates. In addition, information about diseases, nutrition, and natural habitats, is also indispensable for taking care of wild species.

Last but not least, a good zoo would be great sightseeing in cities, attracting numerous visitors around the world. Zoos provide enjoyment and enrichment for tourists through close contact with living creatures. A lot of people love to be involved in various activities such as breeding, photographing and playing with animals. When my family traveled to Florida zoo last year, my kids were so excited to breed giraffes and take a photo with them.

In conclusion, for all the above reasons, I believe that a good zoo is an ideal place for learning, research, and entertainment.
